Happy Friday!!!! It’s the weekend tomorrow!
STEM Friday
I have planned a nice art lesson for you today which can take place indoors or outdoors.
I would like you to watch this simple YouTube video about ‘shadow drawing.’
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAX3OJdZZBo
I would expect to see more detail within your work in relation to this video please. I have attached ways you can do this further down the document.
You do not need to carry out this art task inside, you can go outdoors depending on the weather today and use the natural light to cast shadows onto paper (I have attached an image for reference). Pick something in your garden that you enjoy looking at/use. This could be trees, plants, swings, football goals, basketball hoop, etc. If you don’t have a garden, you can head out on your daily walk and go somewhere you know has something you would love to shadow draw!
When you have completed the drawing you can use various techniques to add depth to it. Follow these YouTube clips for some inspiration –
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dyapH_yAPQ – Pointillism
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DDTrpJ4PXg – Various shading techniques
During this task you will be exploring your fine motor skills, concentration skills, how to add depth to a drawing and new techniques to colour a drawing.
If you have spare time left today, you can always access the STEM activities which Mrs Kinnear posted in Class Materials.
I am looking forward to seeing your Shadow Drawings!
Find time to exercise today – this is so important!
Thank you to all children and parents this week for your efforts and I have thoroughly enjoyed looking through all of the fantastic learning! – It is not easy working from home and you are all doing a fab job.
Have a lovely weekend and I’ll speak to you all again on Monday

Mrs Barrett
