FUN FRIDAY- STEM
It is the end of the week already and back to STEM Fun Friday. Thank you to everyone that has shared their posts with me on Seesaw. There is definitely a lot of learning going on and mums and dads are doing a great job carrying out the tasks that I am posting. Well done everyone!
Science
We are going to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly today. Search Google for “Butterfly: A life / National Geographic” or follow the link below.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wKu13wmHog
Read or listen to “The Cautious Caterpillar” again.
Complete the activity on Seesaw called “The Life Cycle of a Butterfly”

Technology
Go to “Doorway Online, Text Type 2” and have a go at developing your typing and keyboard skills. Try to follow the hands at the bottom of the screen and use the right fingers to tap each letter. This will take practice!

Engineering
Try some of the Challenge cards that I have posted on Seesaw. Who can build the highest tower? Who can build a boat and how many coins can it carry? Who can build a marble roller coaster?
Maths
Complete the “Cautious Caterpillar Addition to 10 Activities” on Seesaw. This includes some missing number sums for you to try too.

Follow the recipe on Seesaw to make Cody’s Butterfly Cupcakes. Make sure you carefully measure out all the ingredients. Good luck and I look forward to seeing the finished results.
If you are up for a challenge try the multiplication and division challenge cards based on The Cautious Caterpillar. Draw pictures as a strategy to help work out the answers. I have posted these on Seesaw.

We learned that butterflies’ wings are
symmetrical. Complete the “Symmetry” activity that I have posted on Seesaw. https://content.twinkl.co.uk/resource/08/f4/t-n-1281-symmetry-activity-sheet-_ver_3.pdf?__token__=exp=1588251455~acl=%2Fresource%2F08%2Ff4%2Ft-n-1281-symmetry-activity-sheet-_ver_3.pdf%2A~hmac=85764402014a40682d0446deeaa40d85c00a5acf412ee74e3ab77c520721067b
Use Lego blocks, pasta, stones, leaves, building blocks, buttons, coins etc to make a symmetrical design. Use a ruler or a piece of string to put down the middle. Take a photograph and post it on Seesaw for me to see.
Have some fun in between activities!
Play balloon tennis. Use your hands to bat the balloon backwards and forwards over a string or a piece of furniture. Roll up a pair of socks if you don't have any balloons. If you have wooden spoons and paper plates you can tape the spoons on to the plates and make a couple of bats.
Put some music on and dance around, keeping the balloon in the air for as long as possible.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone and I’ll see you back here on Monday.
Keep smiling.
Mrs Dowie
