Hello P6/7,

We have made it to Friday again! Yippee!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and perhaps we will get some sunshine too!

I miss you all lots!

Today, we are going to continue our focus on improving our problem solving skills. We will be concentrating on working backwards. With this type of problem, you may be given the answer (or part of the answer) and you have to work backwards to figure out where it started. This fits in well with the algebra work we have done this week so I hope you will find it helpful.

I have included a ‘working backwards’ sheet to help you along the way – you will find it in files on Teams or on the app.

All of these tasks can be completed on paper or in your jotter.

Task 1a – warm up!
To get your brains into action, your first task is a shape puzzle. It is a bit like a sudoku – it gives you totals at the end of each line and you need to figure out the value of each shape.

Task 1b – challenge
Your next task is to complete a series of problems ‘working backwards problems’ – you should use the working backwards strategy for these. You can choose how many you complete but please challenge yourself! Show your working out and remember that these will take some perseverance – don’t give up when they get tricky!
