Happy Friday😊
I hope you have enjoyed your first week back and I’m sure you can’t wait for the weekend!
FUN FRIDAY
Today we are going to use ‘Fun Friday’ to get started on our new topic. There is a little bit of learning to do first – then you can have fun being creative with what you have learned!
Our focus is: What is a Lighthouse?
Some of the questions you want to know the answers to are:
- What is a lighthouse for?
- How are lighthouses built? What are they made of? When were they built?
- Where are they built? Are they in the water?
- How tall are lighthouses? Why are they tall?
- Why is it red and white? Are they all the same colour?
Learning about lighthouses (on Seesaw)
- Read/ listen to the PowerPoint ‘All about Lighthouses’
- Read/ answer the questions from the ‘All about Lighthouses’ comprehension activity.
- Watch the ‘Lighthouses around the world’ video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC8PscC4Mog -Â Pay attention to the colours, shapes and locations of the lighthouses!
Get creative!
Design and build your own lighthouse
What colour will it be?
How tall will it be?
Make sure to include the lamp room, gallery deck, lamp and lightning rod!
Is it on rocks? On the beach? In the middle of the sea?
or
Draw a lighthouse
Watch the video to help you draw it:

Then label the:
- Lightning rod
- Lamp
- Gallery deck
- Lantern room
Create a fact file or a non-fiction book!
Start recording the information you have learned. Make sure to include headings, write in sentences, and add pictures.
I am looking forward to seeing all your creations over on Seesaw.
Have a fantastic weekend!! I hope the sun keeps shining! 😊
