You have probably heard that Primary 1 and Primary 1/2 received a special video clip from Percy the Park Keeper, at the beginning of the week. He asked the children to send him information, video clips and photographs about Markinch Primary School and our local park. Over the next few weeks we will be learning about all the different staff in the school and how they help us and coming up with ways of sharing this information with Percy. We will be spending time at the park, covering aspects of weather, seasons, forces, growing and planting, woodland animals, birds and map work. We are basing our learning on the Percy the Park Keeper stories, by Nick Butterworth and have started turning our role play areas in to Percy’s shed. We wondered if you have any of the following items at home, that you would be happy to send in, to develop these areas further. These lovely books allow the children to develop their own interests and ideas too.
- Seeds/bulbs
- Plastic/wooden woodland animals and birds
- Small child’s wheelbarrow x2
- Watering cans
- Artificial grass (small strips)
- Toy tools
- Nuts/bolts
- Wrench
- Hammer/nails
- Wood (off cuts)
- Sandpaper
- Tool boxes x2
- Green adult wellies
- Seed trays
- Seed catalogues
- Gardening books
- Bird books
- Conkers
- Different leaves
- Acorns
- Pine cones
- We would also like you to send in cardboard boxes, kitchen roll tubes, yoghurt pots, buttons, ribbon etc for junk modelling, as Percy is very inventive and is good at re-cycling and re-using materials!! Please send all junk materials in on a Monday each week.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
